Based on the book Pursued by Jud Wilhite. People often think of God or spirituality as something they find or discover, but the reality is that we are all pursued by God and His grace. Christian faith isn’t blind obedience to a set of rules and regulations; it is entering into a relationship with a God who pursues us-not just to punish us or bless us no matter how far someone has strayed from God, God always remains in passionate pursuit. Using the biblical prophet Hosea’s marriage, commanded by God, to an unfaithful prostitute as a metaphor for God’s unwavering love, Pursued compellingly illustrates God’s plan for every person-to be freed to become his or her own unique self through intimate togetherness with the living, loving God.
Session 1 – Pursued for Relationship
Big Idea: God pursues us to be in relationship with us, not to get religion from us
Session 2 – Pursued by Grace
Big Idea: God pursues us with grace: a love that is willing to pay any price for our freedom and to have us back.
Session 3 – Pursued Relentlessly
Big Idea: God will do whatever it takes to bring us back from sin, including subjecting us to painful discipline.
Session 4 – Pursued to Become
Big Idea: God pursues us in order for us to become who were meant to be: precious children made in the image of their Heavenly Father who live in unselfconscious freedom and freely exchanged love with God and with each other.
