The Lord’s Prayer are words that almost everyone knows or are at least familiar with as a prayer that gets said mainly in church. But these 66 words represent what our lives are meant to look like every day. This series will teach attenders to pray this prayer in their lives every day. We’ll use words that tend to sound like just church words and bring them back to our daily lives. Note: Can be used as a series during Easter. Session 4 is crafted as an Easter service.
Session 1: Everyday Worship
Big Idea: “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name” are not just words to start the prayer. They are about being people whose everyday lives are about worshiping God.
Session 2: Everyday Lordship
Big Idea: “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” are not just words of wishing, they are words that our lives seek to embody. Heaven is not just where we go after we die. It’s about what we are trying to bring here now through obedience to the Lordship of Christ.
Session 3: Everyday Dependence
Big Idea: Give us this day, our daily bread.
Session 4: Everyday Forgiveness
Big Idea: And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.
Session 5: Everyday Temptation
Big Idea: And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil…” Dealing with temptation is a daily thing in a Christ-followers life.
Session 6: Everyday Submission
Big Idea: “For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.” Every day submission is about life lived in service and pursuit of God, in focusing on Him and not on ourselves.
